Elder Okechuku, Elder Boateng(Elder Reid's Companion), Elder Kamara and Elder Reid at the big fu fu and palm nut dinner my last Sunday in Nungua!
Dear Family & Friends,
Well, this week has been really good. Elder Pearson had 2 suits sewn, so he is living it up now. I only wanted one because suits for back home never get old. I can wear it the rest of my life and still be just fine! Unless I get fat when I get home, which will probably happen, but then I will get skinny again!
I did not get the package yet. I am sure I will get it at Zone Conference. I have gotten many letters from Jarom, so that has been really cool. That’s a bummer that the mission call letter for Carson has not yet come—probably this week. I ran into the Brown’s here in Madina, they were here for the Stake Conference. They talked to me small, and then they took a picture just like always. Well, because of Conference this week, we did not have too many at church. It’s just too far for everyone to come, and most people do not even know where the place is. We still had enough at church though, especially the people who will be baptized this week. We will be having 6 baptisms, so it’s going to be a really good week. We will have another baptism later on. We have set our goal at 8, so that will make us work really hard to get 2 more after this week. Then we will prepare plenty for next transfer.
Our Zone met their goal and exceeded it, but the mission did not get the goal after all, there were too many people that were suppose to be baptized last Saturday that failed. So this next Zone Conference is going to be pretty crazy. Even in our Zone we were suppose to get 2 more, but the kids did not come back from school. No problem with that because we already exceeded ours. Our Zone Leaders Council was good.
Well, we had one small problem this week. We had the guy that use to be the head of his church, Elliot, kind of drop out for baptism. His father is saying that he will disown him if he joins our church, so he has to make a big decision. That is how our week went, so we were pretty sad about all that.
We are going to pick up the suits today so I will really get to see what it looks like! We also got to eat hamburgers this week again--they were amazing, as always, but I don’t think they are as good as the ones back home. I have not had pizza for a long time--maybe I will have you pick me some up in New York--then I can eat it when you get here! That would be super cool!
So have you figured anything out about you coming--like where you will stay and your flights yet? I am just curious. It sure is winding down fast! I have just 6 months left--I don’t know if you all knew that?!? I’m on the last stretch--I guess that was a week ago but I cannot remember if I said anything about it. The next landmark is just home. It’s going to fly by so fast.
Oh ya, transfers are also coming up (I have 4 transfers left) but I don’t think much will happen again. President is keeping people where they are longer and longer.
Shelby, I hope you made enough raspberry jam so when I get home I can eat some on some rolls that Grandma Claudia makes for me! Oh ya, I can still remember that stuff--I will never forget making puzzles and making food with Grandma. I hear they have a nice new plasma TV and now the bathroom is going to be all new. That will be cool to see. Also, Josh and Jenny’s new house—with all the new stuff! Pretty much lots of things have happened since I have been gone--that’s going to be really cool to come home and see it all finished! I’m getting really excited.
I started reading Jesus the Christ, one of the missionary library books. It’s pretty good so far, but I am not too far into it yet, but I will get there soon. I hope to finish it by the end of my mission. It’s always said the belief in Christ is what makes you want to share the gospel, and the book really helps you believe in Christ.
I really look forward to watching the rest of LOST when I get home--that will be really sweet! It’s been kind of a long time since I have seen any movies or shows or anything, and you know me I love to watch all of them. Soon enough.
Well, I guess time is out today. I don’t think there is anything else but I love you all--thanks for everything!
Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
