Elder Reid's District in Nungua (notice they all have matching ties)!
Elder Okechuku, Elder Boateng(Elder Reid's Companion), Elder Kamara and Elder Reid at the big fu fu and palm nut dinner my last Sunday in Nungua!
Dear Family & Friends,
Well, this week was great, it was really nice to get to talk to you on Mother's Day! It was cool to get to talk about everything, but still I have some other stuff I did not tell you about. This week at church we had 9 come again, it was really cool to get that many people to church again and we are working very hard! We also had two new people come. Also this week one of our investigators from the old ward came to church in a white shirt and tie--he looked awesome! He is preparing to be baptised on May 22. Some of the other people that came this week were a mother and her daughters, the father has come before, but he did not come this week, we are still working on him. Next, we had Brother Elliot, the one that is over the Adenta Branch of his own church, he is really cool. He still has to leave early because his church always calls him to go do other things. We also met a really cool little family with a mother and two children--the children are awesome! We play fun little games with them and stuff, we hope to get them to to church this week. The French guy from Ivory Coast came this week he is great, he understands what we teach him and this week he came all by himself, so that was really cool to see him! I think he knows what we teach him is true, but he just likes to play with us to make us think that he does not know it's true. He is really great and I think that he will be one that we will plan to baptise soon. Some other great people have been coming but they are young and their parents don't come with them so we will see what we can do.
We went to Tema today to get that suit made, it will be really sweet. I like it pinstriped with a vest, so it will be a little more than it was going to be. That is about all we have done today. There is nothing else, but one other thing we never concluded about the whole coming to Ghana thing! So, this is what I will do--I will give you 3 weeks to tell me--okay--that's it! I would like to know next week or in the shortest time--like this next week! Three weeks---that's all you get, not any more because you have to get your shots started in 3 weeks because I think you should do the ones that take longer because they are more effective. Also, in 3 weeks I have only six months left and you will need that entire 6 months to do everything, so try to tell me next week or so. Love you--don't stress too much. The last thing I will say is I would like you to come! But if that stops us from doing other things like going to Taiwan or going to California then I would not like you to come. I think that is about it.
To conclude the day I think we are going to go get some double cheeseburgers that are going to be really awesome and then get to work on finding some more cool people! It's not easy but today starts the last journey of my mission. There was a quote I once heard: "It's always good to have an end to journey towards, but in the end, it's the journey that matters the most." I think that is how it goes, I think Mom sent it to me a while back.
Well, I got new shoes, I don't know if I told you or not---so I will tell you again. That is probably the best thing ever, ha ha, not really! I always knew that Dr. Martins were a pretty expensive, nice shoe, so when I saw them I was like I have to have them, they are really sweet! I found them at the market for a great price--only 18 cedis--that is like 14 dollars! Dr. Martins are usually very expensive. Now let me tell you a little more. They were in a huge pile of shoes because in Ghana nothing is new--it is called home used. A guy was selling shoes and when we came to him the second one that he got out was this shoe. I guess the guy had no clue what they were. They have been used some, but not too much! They are worn in just perfect, so I don't have to break them in! So, I am pretty sure that I am now wearing some rich persons shoes that never stepped foot outside of an office or a limo! Ha Ha!
Well, that's about it. I love you all and I will see you around pretty soon!
Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
