Elder Boateng and Elder Reid enjoying the big fu fu and palm nut soup!

Complete Tilapia (fish), banku and fu fu dinner Lucy prepared for us. We will be baptizing Lucy soon!

Dear Family & Friends,

Well, that is great news! I am happy that you decided to come! Now you just have to get everything in line and that will take you about the 6 months that I have left. It sounds like it will just be you two coming, not everyone else, but you can let me know. That’s really cool that you had already planned to come and pick me up, because you started saving the money way in advance. It sounds like everything is going well for all of you. Today is a really happy day because now I know that you are really coming to pick me up!

Well, my suit that I was having made will not be coming the way that I thought it would be. The guy cannot get the pin-striped material so now he is just going to make one that is a little like the one that I use to wear (the one of Grandpas that is really old)! It’s going to be brown so I guess that is cool too. I really like pin-striping, but they can only get it in the fabric that feels really cheap and I don’t like that kind at all.

So, this week was pretty dang good. We did not have the people that we thought would come to church so that was pretty upsetting. We had 2 kids come but we were supposed to have their parents there too, because without the parents we cannot baptize them. So that was pretty sad. We will go see their father tomorrow to see if we can get him to come to church. We are also getting the Bishop to go and see him because we really want him to come. Funny thing was that we gave the guy a date, and he was really happy about the whole thing, but then he did not come. It’s sad to see that families here are not really together too much---that is one thing I don’t like. Also we have been going with a member named Felix--he is doing so much for us. I mean the guy is great. He feeds us all the time and is happy to help at anytime. He is the one that referred us to all of these people that we have been seeing.

One other cool thing that happened this week was that we taught the guy that is like a financial secretary in his church—his name is Elliot. We gave him a date for the 5th of June, and then he said he will not be coming. We talked for a while and he said the reason he cannot come is because he needs to give all the stuff away that he has been doing in his church. He has been giving it away small, small but I think that he told them this week that he is done. So that is really cool. We are planning on another baptism of about 5 for the first week in June (that’s the 5th) so that is going to be really cool.

Today we are going over to Elder Ahadjis place to maybe play some basketball. That will be pretty sweet. That is only if it stops raining! It started this morning and has not really stopped. It’s really strong so it’s been a really good day.

I guess that means I will not need to worry anymore about getting tons of stuff because when you get here you can order everything that you would ever want and probably get it cheaper by going through someone that the missionaries already know pretty well. You can also get everything that you want made while you are here because you can tell them everything the first or second day you come. I will try to take pictures of some stuff that you might like so when you get here you can see it to decide if you like it or not. So think of some stuff that you have seen that you like and write it all down.

Wow, I really do miss you all tons. Next week when I write you I will have six months till I get to see you--ha ha--that’s so cool! Oh ya, you also have to remember that you are coming to a 3rd world country and its kinda bad. I don’t want you to get freaked out because it’s not the best surroundings and the cockroaches and all of that stuff. Like Dad would say---just suck it up for how long you’re here and pretend that everything is easy--it’s cool to have an adventure! I know that you guys can all make it through without one worry!

You will love it here and you will have to try everything that I have eaten for the last 2 years and you will probably not like any of it! I think you will probably throw up when you eat it the first time. It will be really funny, especially fu fu, which is probably the hardest food to eat when you get here. Well, if there is anything that you want to know before then, you can ask me. I hope there are some things you want to know. I don’t know though you will have to figure some things to ask me.

Oh ya, my last great story--this is probably the best one ever! So, the other day I think on Tuesday or so, we were contacting like we do every day when an appointment fails. We went by this huge house and I was like let’s go contact that house. We went over to the gate and knocked. A man walked out with a shot gun and he was in semi-military clothes. This guy was not too big--we started talking to him and found out he is the guard of the place. Anyway, while we are talking Elder Pearson comes out of no where saying---are those monkeys? The guy says no. (Even though we could see that they were monkeys)! We were like oh, sorry; we knew they were not monkeys (we thought it was supposed to be like a secret or something). So, a little while went by and we were like can we see the monkeys and he said well, they use to let people come see the monkeys but not anymore. So that was pretty sad. The monkeys were huge ones--bigger than the ones on TV and they were awesome! I did not get bitten because we were too far away from them. So now I am safe from dying of a monkey bite--that pretty much has been one year ago when that happened. So, when you come, watch out for crazy monkeys!

Well, love you all tons! Thanks for deciding early about coming. Miss you. Have a great week.

Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
