Elder Pearson's Birthday!

Elder Pearson, Jeffrey and his son, and Elder Reid

Dear Family & Friends,

Well, today is a really weird day. I just looked through my pictures and realized I have like none, so that’s kind of sad. I have lots missing from the middle. Now I take pictures of all my baptisms, but I remember before, if someone else brought a camera, I did not. When I was with Elder Riding he took pictures of the baptisms--but his camera got stolen--so that is really too bad.

So, your new calling Dad, that is pretty sweet. You are now in the Bishopric again! I guess you did great the first time you were in the Bishopric and also as the Ward Mission Leader. Anyway, that is great news--I am very happy for you!

The next thing that is pretty crazy to me is that Josh and Jenny are home from Taiwan and Carson got his mission call to some place that I have never even heard of! I know of Korea--but not the actual mission or town! That is pretty intense. I’m happy for him--there he will have lots of crazy experiences. Well, tell him congrats! I will look to see him in about 2 years--now making the count 4 years--pretty crazy. Maybe I will just go over there and take him out to dinner! Anyway, he will have a great time there. Also, tell him to take his camera--ha ha!

Well Mom, I guess you are really preparing to come here--that’s going to be so sweet! I am so excited for you guys to come--every time I think about it my stomach feels good inside! It really makes up for the crappy week we just had. Well, so I told you about Elliot--I guess we thought the guy was so correct it was so good--too good to be true. We went over there after he missed church again--he was sweet--he bore his testimony to us and then this week he did not come to church again. Guess where we found him--preaching in his old church.

On a better note--it was Elder Pearson’s birthday--which is sweet. We are enjoying small, small or big, big--I don’t know. We went with the other Elders to the place where they sale fries and chicken that is amazing. It was great! Now I am emailing you and after this we will go buy drinks—Fantas--and put some fan ice or ice cream inside of them. Then we will be going to eat the cake that Sister Hale made for him—it’s going to be a great night! Then tomorrow we will continue to have some fun and go get pizzas--buy one get one free--that’s going to be another awesome day. Oh ya, this morning we got out some of the greatest bread in Ghana called b foster. It’s been in the freezer for over 3 weeks but we had decided to make French Toast out of it so we did just this morning. I made it for Elder Pearson--but actually he helped me so it was a combined effort. It was pretty good with some strawberry syrup on it. Now I think I will wait till I get back home to eat that again, but I don’t know maybe I will get the craving one more time. Dad is not going to like Ghana in the morning---no doughnuts, no waffles, no pancakes, and no breakfast food---that has been probably the hardest part for me--wink wink!

I was just thinking about when you all come. I think you should not bring too much with you. I think you will want to take lots of stuff home. That’s what I want to do. Also, most of my stuff will be gone when you get here because I will be cleaning out my bags, clothes and stuff I have had. I also am going to throw away my shoes--is that okay with you? I think they are beyond repair--but I will take pictures before I do that! So, we also made stew today, it was pretty good.

We have Leadership Training this week and tomorrow we find out about transfers--like I told you--I don’t think that I will be going yet. Next transfer is pretty much that I will go because Elder Pearson goes home, so that would make me a really long time in this area, but I guess I have done that before! I really want to train one more time before I go home. I got all those newspaper clippings—it was really cool to look through all of them. It’s weird to think that the age group below me is going out on missions and now, even the next age group down will be going out.

Sounds like you all have been traveling lots to go different places. We have been staying in one place--mostly because we have not had splits for a while--they will start up next week when we see the new District Leaders and find out if everything is going really good. I don’t think much will happen. We just got a new District Leader in Achimota--we have 4 District Leaders. So maybe there will not be too many changes. Elder Pearson goes home in 2 transfers--that is just the craziest thing for me because this will be his 2nd to last that I will be with him--then the next one he will go. I think that is great! That also means I only have 2 more and I really hope that I will train again. It’s all gone by so fast since I have come to Adenta. I love the area; it is such a nice place!

Grace, the recent convert is really sweet and she decided for Elder Pearson’s birthday she would give him a cloth that shows great thanks for someone. It’s like a big piece of fabric. She also decided to give me one. It is really nice--I will have to take pictures of it so that you will get to see it. She wanted to get some African wear made with it but she did not have enough time. So we will probably make it into that. I think you, Mom, and Dad will like it a lot. I hope the one I have made looks good. When you come, one of the first things you should plan on doing is having some African wear made, because it all has to be made and it takes some time. It always looks really good. We also get to eat a lot of good food here and it’s not expensive. The apartment is one of the best in the mission; we just can’t seem to keep it clean. This place is just awesome, I would not mind to finish in this apartment. Last of all we have air conditioning every night--like last night it was so cold! Ha ha!

Well, that is all I can think of right now. I did not get any packages yet so I will probably get them Friday. I love you all so much. Dad, good luck on your new calling and Mom also (but, Mom you have been in there for some time)!

Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
