This is the complete meal from Lucy--it was awesome! |
Dear Family & Friends,
Dad, you said you think it is weird not having Oreo begging at your feet---well, in the next few months you will have someone else begging at the bottom of your feet. It will be me waiting for the food to fall because I have not had any for so long!!! And to answer your question Mom---the girls who are here all teach at the deaf school. I have not really talked to them too much, but one is from Texas and the rest are from Utah.
I got the flat rate envelope it was really good--new tooth brushes--one that was electric powered. That was nice; I have not seen one like that for a really long time! I also got the new fruit punch stuff, that stuff was really good. We drank lots of it already.
So, before I forget, this is what has happened this last week. About 2 nights ago we were waiting out side of Brother Felix’s house and some drunken guy came back from a funeral just hammered. He was insulting us and calling us bad stuff. Then he threatened us. It was pretty crazy. That’s kind of how it goes here. Go to a funeral and get drunk or just go to get drunk. Anyway we got out of there. We went to teach a lady (she is the mother of the investigators who failed us). They said they wanted to be baptized with the mother, so we taught her but she still did not come to church
Ghana played in the World Cup and won their first match. When it was over everyone went crazy like they always do and we were advised to go back to our apartment. USA played also; they got a draw one-one, which means they could still have the chance of getting knocked out. I really don’t care for futball, I think it’s all funny that everyone loves it so much here. Anyway, basketball is where I am at.
There was a huge Muslim wedding outside our apartment. Winnie our neighbor had it. We came home because of the game and they were having Winnie's wedding it was pretty intense! They made rice and waakye, that was pretty crazy. They gave me some meat that looked like I don’t know what!!!!!!!!!!! It turned out to be goat liver so I still did not eat it but Elder Ewudzie loved it. So, we also had lots of minerals and took lots of pictures of the party. You will one day get to see it all.
We had two candidates this week be interviewed for their baptism. The interviews went very well--everything is good. Today we thought we would go out early to teach one of them and when we got there guess what??? She traveled so we called her and she is going to be back in 3 weeks so that is really too bad! I don’t even know if she will come back by then. That is 5 this transfer--kind of 6--that have failed us. So now we have baptized 3 and we have to baptize 5 more. We have 5 people but all of them are shaky--like one may be traveling to China very soon. Oh ya, I wanted to ask---Where is the Church in China? Did you go to the Temple in Taiwan or in Hong Kong, China? I hope we can still get our goal, but we are going to have to work really hard.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad! I knew it was Father’s Day because of the calendar and also Grandpa’s Birthday! Oh gosh, I know it was someone else’s birthday too, but I just can’t remember who! Sorry! I will make it up when I get back home. So, Happy Birthday to everyone that is having a birthday in the family! I think it was either Josh or I don’t know--sorry.
Well, also this week we got to play tennis! That was pretty much the most awesome thing ever! We were playing on a true clay court! Well, more like dirt. It was on Friday of this week. We were teaching a lesson and some kids came up the path with two rackets--one was a Prince racket the other a Wilson. So we asked if we could play for a minute--right after the lesson was over we played for about 20 minutes! The skills are not too good anymore but that’s okay it will all come back--I hope. They even had a correct ball so that was really nice. I guess that may be the only time I will get to play tennis on my mission. Well, that’s about all that happened this week. I cannot remember everything--this week has been kind of stressful. I hope that everything gets calmed down soon. We are still on line to achieve our goals. We talked to the father of one of the boys that we will baptize and he said it would be fine--so that was really great. The power went off so we had to go and come back.
Well, love you so much! Sorry I have forgotten about birthdays and everything. I feel really bad, but I guess I am not on top of those things anymore like I was at the first of my mission. Everything just seems to blend together so much that I don’t even know what’s going on, so that is actually a good thing. Miss you! I will be happy to be home when the time comes.
p.s. before my signature. Loved everything you have all sent. Tell Shelby and Matt thanks for the candy from Old Town. It was good but it was a bit melted--the wax--so that was funny but not all of it was! Oh ya, the gummy bears were one blob--it was awesome and everyone loved it because it was just like a gummy ball!
Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
P.s.s This week was tough really I miss you lots and lots! But I am staying tuff so nothing can knock me out now.
