Got The Package, It Was Great!

The ride to Nsawam

Jeffery and his sons baptism

Dear Family & Friends,

Well, my email was just erased so now I am starting over so this one is going to be really fast. Elder Pearson goes home in September--the first of it. I got the package, it was great! I have already eaten most of the food that was inside just like I always do when I am stressed out. I wanted to email Josh to ask him a few questions but I probably won’t have time now.

So anyway on to this week--we have 3 that will be baptized on Saturday--that’s really cool! Maybe even a 4th if everything goes perfect. The girl, Vida, did not come to church this week so we have to go check on her and get her interviewed for her baptism. We are really hoping she goes through. Then we will get our goal of 8 for this transfer.

Zone Interviews were really good. I did get my suit and I tried to send some pictures from the Temple but the Picasso thing is just too slow. I was waiting on it for like 30 minutes and still did not even send 5 pictures so I guess I will not be doing it that way. One thing that really made me happy was to talk to President! It was really cool--he talked to me like--I don’t know but it was different than before.

So 4 missionaries in our Zone have been taken out--we don’t really know why--but nothing bad. So now we no longer go to Nsawam. But we do for these last two weeks because we have to do a baptism out there for the candidates that they were preparing. So that will be pretty cool to go and do that next Saturday.

The Ghana match was pretty cool. Lots of people were happy that Ghana won. They celebrated a lot, but not too much I guess. I got to hear all about the game the next day. For me I really don’t care---now if tennis were on I would be happy---but I still would not watch it because I want to be obedient.

So, I was talking about the people that we got to church this week. We did not get too many new people--only one--but it’ okay. His name is Tony and the guy is sweet. We taught him one day after he had read the Restoration Pamphlet. He wanted to know about the Book of Mormon so we gave him one and also gave him a place in it to read. At the very first there is the testimony of Joseph Smith and we gave him that. He read it and he came to church! Those are the people that I love--the ones that read the things we give them! If we could get everyone to read some of the stuff we give them they would realize the truth of what we are teaching. That is how I know it’s true! Not only that, but Joseph Smith’s testimony just strengthens it. I wish the people could read better here--it would take a lot less time for people to be converted.

I can remember one story you told me Dad. It’s hard ; ) to think back to your voice--it’s been so long. I hope you know what that means--the little smiley thing--ask Shelby.

I have started wearing my glasses, or specs, like they call them here. My eyes have been bothering me when it gets later in the day, maybe they are correcting themselves! That would be the greatest thing ever, but I don’t think that is the case.

I’ve started to try doing the sign language--I know like 4 pretty good so far. This week at church also 6 white girls came to our ward that was really weird. They are here for the sign language thing Mom was talking about. They are all very nice. I’ll keep studying it all until I am really good. I hope that by the time I come home I have lots memorized with that and also I have The Book of Mormon read again and also the New Testament. That will be really nice. Well, I have about 5 minutes left and that’s all.

Well, love you all tons! I miss you lots!

Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
