Dear Family & Friends,
Well, I think the happiest thing this week is that I have sent some pictures! I hope you get them. There will be about 6 or 7--I think and hope! So, anyway, about this week—it was a little different. I went to Nsawam to do some interviews for the District Leader, Elder McLean (who was with Elder Pearson) here in Adenta. He will be going home, I think, at the end of this transfer. So, he is training out there right now. We got a ride to Nsawam with the Hale’s because Elder Hale is the 2nd Councilor in the Branch Presidency. So that was pretty nice listening to Enya and having a/c (air conditioning)!
We had lots come to church again, and this week we will be losing the old area so we can focus more on just one area and make it the best it should be. We have met so many good people we just have not had time to see them all. It has not been easy having two areas to cover and two Wards, but we have done it the best we could. New Elders will be coming on Wednesday because that is the day of transfers. We are looking forward to transfers because our Zone is big and there might be lots of transfers, so that will be cool.
Zone Leaders Council and Zone Conference both went really well. I gave my first instruction and I think it was okay. I guess that 3rd time is the best (usually) but it will not be for a while so I am not worried. We went to the temple, as you know, but we did not go inside. Not this time, maybe in a couple of weeks.
I will try to send more pictures next week, so you will finally get to see pictures again! I just hope it works and all this was not in vain. I think it will, don’t worry.
This week we will be baptizing 6 more to get our goal of 7! We already baptized 1 this week--a really cool guy--all his family but his mother are members, so we will try to work on them, too.
Well, since I have been with Elder Pearson I have been talking lots about cars. So that’s kind of funny you went to a car show this week. Cars are pretty sweet--how they work and all! Elder Pearson likes fast cars that sound cool, just like me. Also, like me, he does not know how they work very well. It will be fun to come back to work at the shop for a while--to see it all again and get to remember long ago! Ha ha.
I guess I will be making beans again this week. I ran out of money pretty fast this time because they came out with a new drink by Fanta from Brazil. It’s really nice. We also have been enjoying FM’s (free meals). We have had so many in the last couple days it’s been great. I think I told you about Jamima, if I didn’t, next week tell me and I will tell you the story, but this week she came to church. Her father got sick so she took her sister to her old church then came to church with us. That was pretty sweet, but we know her father will probably not let her come again.
Last night when I took numbers the Zone was doing really good. We all have almost given enough dates to get our baptismal goal--we are off by 3, and those will be given this week, so that’s really sweet. The Zone is doing really great. We are going to exceed our goal, by all means!
Oh, one thing, I found a place that makes a correct suit for 90 Ghana cedis--in any color and fabric that I want. I was thinking of getting one. This will be lots cheaper then getting one at home and this one will fit exactly how I like it and be the exact color. So, I want to know what you guys think. I was thinking of getting a brown one with some small pin stripes.
It has started to rain here off and on so that’s been really nice. It’s been much cooler and our room has an a/c window, so that’s pretty cool! It’s not really a/c but almost (an open window with two fans!).
Oh, by the way, the people in Nungua that Elder Boateng and I were working with have been baptized--the mother and her son and daughter and Kofi--all of them! That was really sweet. I also hear that Nungua has been having tons of people come to church now. I was happy to hear that there are lots of cool people there.
This area is still really great. We are now working with another referral from Brother Felix. He is a great man, his name is Kwame, and we have seen him once now. He works everyday but he likes the church and wants to join. He still feels shy a little bit though. He has a wife and 4 children so we are going to start working with the children, too. Some of them are young but others are old so they will be really happy to see two obrunies teach them the Gospel.
So, this week is looking pretty good with the new Elders in the other area. Now we will focus everything on our own area and do the best we can. We are still aiming to get 10 baptisms this transfer—it’s going to be a little hard--but we are going to achieve it. I’ve always wanted to do that many and with the way we are doing things we will be able to.
Now we are just going back to the apartment for some hours before we go out at 4:30 to see our first appointment. I hope she cooks us something good. I think its going to be kotomer again. Also, this week we are going to eat lots of French Toast. We got dashed two big loaves of bread--that is going to be really sweet!
Well, I hope you get all the pictures--tell me how they are next week! I guess I will end here, my time is running out. Love you all tons and tons!
Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
