Moving to Another Apartment!

Dear Family & Friends,

Well, this week has just been great! I knew it was going to be Conference--but guess what--we don't get to watch Conference for like a month. I hope they even watch it in this Ward. Dad, I liked the story a lot--it was really cool--I hope I can be like that. It sounds like Mom is busy touring Utah. Sounds pretty fun.

This week we had a lot of people come to Church, especially because we have 2 Wards now. Becky came, but she did not want to get baptized, so that is sad. Kwame came like always. Jeffery and Ephraim came and they are both in the Adenta 2 Ward. Those last two are preparing for baptism in the next two weeks (on the 17th) so that is going to be really cool. We also got to meet some of our new investigators and teach them this week they were really cool. They were all interviewed this Sunday and everything worked out very well. We had 9 in church in Ward 1--that was pretty sweet! That’s more than a lot of times I have had and I’m really happy because it was really all the Lords doing. He knows how hard we have been working through the last, like year.

We went to interviews and they were really nice. We had a good conversation with President before we started the actual interviews. I really like him--he is a really nice guy! I have never gotten to talk to him just like that--it’s usually with interviews or things like that. So I’m glad we got there like an hour early. He decided to transfer me and Elder Pearson to the Adenta 1 Ward and apartment, so we are moving now, to the nicest apartment on the mission. Now our area is part of the Church and also has the apartment. For the next 3 weeks, like I told you, we have 2 areas so we will still be going to stay in that other area too. It’s kind of really funny but I am very happy to be in an even better area so we are going to work as hard as we can and see if before we both go home we can do something amazing. We are going to keep working really hard and we are already working pretty much as hard as we can. Every other day we go back to the other area so we have to drive our bikes very far. But it’s way cool. Kind of fun.

Well, today was pretty amazing, we went to change our apartment with the AP’s and then we all went to Bountiful to eat. It was so amazing--when we finished they gave us real ice cream, the correct one! It was really cool--I loved it and everyone else did, too. This week we taught a lady twice and she came to church with 3 kids--that was pretty cool. This week we are going to try to teach her husband and bring them both to the church--that will be great!

We are planning to baptize 6 this week, 2 next week and 2 or 4 the following week. That’s because both areas are actually doing really well. We are very happy about that--now we just have to continue to do more and more—small, small. President always says that we are not shooting a rocket ship to the moon we are just climbing a small hill! I like that. This week’s baptism we have a girl named Grace, she is really cool. She is fun to talk to and teach. One day you will get to see a picture of her. Well, we have met some cool people this last week, just to tell you about some, small. First, after waiting for 3 weeks we got to talk to the family of some kids we taught. They were awesome and they live in a really big house. Now this week we are going back to see them again and to teach them. One of them is named Adwoa--pronounced Ajwa. She is the mother and she is really cool, we have not met the father yet, but we will. Next, there is Steven, a guy that contacted us, he was really cool and understands everything. He traveled last week, but this week he will come to church. Lastly, there is Prince, he is cool, but has heard lots of bad stuff about the church--but it’s okay--we always help people to find that none of it is true.

Church was pretty crazy this week--Elder Pearson had to go to Nswama which is like 2 hours from here to do some interviews and I went to church. I was there from morning till 3 in the afternoon, it was crazy. That is a lot of church even for a missionary! I got to meet people from First Ward; we will work with them to see what we can do. They are still new, they have probably never had their Ward white washed in emergency transfers but sometimes it happens.

About the new apartment: we have a really nice kitchen, we also have our room with two beds on the ground, we have our own private bathroom and it’s still in flats somehow! It’s huge and really easy to live in. We have purified water again not pure water bags (or sachets). I hope there is a place to buy some sweet fish and banku in the new area. We already found the place for kiliwili. The way these last weeks have been will be a lot like when I get home--I will live in Gunnison then go down to St. George, then to Las Vegas, then to California, then to Taiwan and then to Ghana!

So, Easter was this week?!? Guess what---I did not even know! Easter is a lot different here. There are no bunnies, no signs of parties, nothing. Everyone celebrates the death of Jesus Christ here, but not really the resurrection. It’s a lot different. So, we had not chocolate anything!

Tell everyone Happy Birthday--especially the people that I forgot! It’s been too busy--I forget about a lot of things these days. I love you guys tons--miss the heck out of you!

Oh ya, I got another package with some marker pencils—thanks--love you.

Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
