Dear Family & Friends,
Well, this week was pretty good. The record for being in one area was 10 and a half or 9 months (one of the two) so I either tied or broke the record! But, now I cannot go any further with that record. I was transferred. So, I am pretty happy today, but also kind of sad at the same time.
I was transferred to a place called Adenta. Its little north and east of Accra--like 3 hours. I am now serving with Elder Pearson from Orem, Utah. He is a cool missionary and has been really fun. We are the Zone Leaders over Adenta. This Sunday was my first one here. It was pretty darn good. We had a good number at church. A lot of Ewe people live in this area. I don't know if that is how you spell it, maybe you could check for me. This place it just the opposite of the last area. There are no compounds. All of the houses are like in the states and they are very spaced out. It’s a lot different than Nungua. There are not a lot of people around all the time. Most people stay in there houses or are at work. We also have some investigators that have been coming to church for a very long time that have not been baptized. They do not want to accept a date yet. So that is really weird.
I am in the same apartment with one of my best companions, Elder Ewudzie! I was happy to find that out. He is still pretty sweet. It’s about the same to be a Zone Leader but there is just more paper work that we have to do. We live in flats so that is kind of funny. The apartment is small but pretty nice. We live by 3 families that are members. They are nice but all of them are moving soon—one family is going to America.
Elder Pearson is great--we have a lot of fun together. We have lots of work to do--like always--when you come into an area you have to make it better! We are quite far from the Church but not too far. We are trying to work extra hard to get more people to church.
I have pictures to send to you but I guess the computers are not very good here either, so I still won’t be able to send them. I got another package it had yoo-hoo in it and also contact solution. Thank you very much! I did not run out of contact solution so that was good. It also had my favorite the shredded pork! It was a great package. I think I will finish here. It will be a great finish!
I am kind of sad about one thing--there is no banko and panla here. It’s too expensive and I cannot always buy it, so I hope I can find another place to buy some. It's okay because I found some other kind of food called kiliwili. It’s really nice too. They take the red plantain or ripe plantain (same thing) and put some ginger and peppa and other stuff on it so that it’s kind of spicy.
The church here is the exactly the same as the one we went to in Kasoa. The bishop is really cool-- he really likes us and that's really nice. I even bore my testimony--it was really sweet. The ward is really sweet, too. Right after church we had to do 4 interviews back to back for the other missionaries. We do interviews for 4 districts (I think). That's the most we have in our mission. So, it’s really cool. Keeps us busy--we will be having lots of splits and other things all the time. Lots of good missionaries in this zone. I'm excited to get to know some new missionaries, it seems like I have just known and been with the same missionaries my whole mission. Elder Ewudzie's companion is Elder Beck. He is newer in the mission and is a really cool guy. He works really hard.
This week was great in Adenta (I almost said Nungua). It rained 3 times in one day--really hard rain too! It seemed it rained every time we were teaching a lesson. One time it almost blew the windows in on a house! It was really scary!
We got a new AP--Elder Takon took Elder Akoma-Mordi’s place and he went to be with Elder Gale.
Well, thanks for the email. I hope you like this one--you probably will because I finally moved areas. Haha!!! Well, I love you all tons and tons. Have the best week every. Oh ya---Josh, we are teaching a Ghanaian who lived in England for a long time he is cool--speaks with a deep accent and also his kids and wife are members.
Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
