Malaria!

Dear Family & Friends,

Well, I just got malaria for the first time. This time I think it was the real thing! I took the artrin (medication) and I got better, but it was not fun. The sickness only took me out of working for one day--then I was better. I am still really weak and I lost some weight--but no worries--I think I will gain it back this next week with some fms (free meals) we have planned out!

We had some new people at church this week so that was really good. Well, Zone Conference with Elder Dickson and his wife was pretty awesome! He talked about just the stuff we needed. So that was incredible! It was a lot about facing our challenges. He talked about how challenges will come no matter what, but they are just to help us, not to bring us down. That’s why, no matter what, we need to face those challenges with good faith and then we will make it out on top. He also gave us a scripture: D&C 122:7. It’s pretty sweet--one that can help you get through the hard times. We did not get to see how the mission did on baptisms but it sounded like we were going to come out above the goal that we set for the mission. That will be the first time ever! I and Elder Simeon made our goal so that was pretty cool! The Batsonaa Elders, in my District, baptized people--they had plenty. This time we are going to set a higher goal so we are moving up---that’s always a good sign.

Transfers will be coming in one week. I think I will be leaving here for sure this time or I will be the only missionary to stay in one area 10 months!!! That will be pretty amazing. This area is becoming really strong--I know it will continue to become one of the best places ever!

The weather is very sweet. It’s been a little bit colder and I don’t know if I told you or not, but it rained last week or so! I love it when it rains! Right now it is the dry season--but it’s almost over--only 2 more months then we have the wet season. I am really looking forward to that!

Nungua is one of the older towns so because of that there are many traditional areas where people worship many different gods. There are too many houses everywhere and too many busy, loud stores. It makes for a heck of a time teaching a lesson with the spirit! Our church is located where it breaks from city to country. It is kind of funny how here, in one town, you can have city and country in the same place---you just cross one road. There are also a lot of really nice homes because we live on the beach. Everyone that comes from outside of Ghana likes to build their houses near the beach.

Church meetings are good and Sacrament is good, especially when we get lots of people to come to church. Then it’s always a good day!

Well, I am very sorry, but I am in Ghana and the computers are not working very well today--it chopped all my money--so now my time is all up! I hope you all have a great week. I look forward to next week and hearing from everyone! Please remember I love letters and emails!!!!!! Love you all tons miss you.

Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
