Dear Family & Friends,
Well kind of crazy---I just remembered something---while we were teaching last week I went to show someone my temple recommend and guess what--it’s finished. It expired in July. So now I have to get President to renew it for me, for like 3 months, then when I get home I will be interviewed by Dad---that will be funny---ha ha.
So this week was a pretty good one again. I’m tired though. Pushing everything to go you get pretty tired pretty fast. It’s not easy but I still love it here and still having good success. We had lots of people come to church; even some that we had no idea would come. We were driving by all these houses and we had just talked to a member and I saw this black gate--it was one of our first contacts of the night. A guy named Francis opened the door. We talked small---and we got an appointment right then---he asked us to sit down so we did. It is never easy to start but we started with the pathway to heaven---Baptism and the Holy Ghost. He had not done either. We worked with that and then went into where to be baptized and finally ended with Joseph Smith and the Restoration. It was awesome! He understood and we invited him to church. On Sunday he came and it was so cool! Some other great people came too, one that was referred to us from Brother Felix. The last guy that I will talk about was John--we have worked with him for 3 weeks now. One of his friends contacted us and he was really cool, but he got a job far away and left for a while--he will be back. He even had a baptismal date but now he does not. So John came late---we did not even know that he would be coming. I don’t know how he liked church yet but I think that he liked it a lot. I hope we can work with him to be baptized soon.
Well, this week is also a big one for the zone. We are planning on having 21 baptisms! That is a lot. I’m a little nervous, but I think everything is going to work out for the best. The zone really does work hard and with a few changes I think that this zone would explode with baptisms. We had all of our candidates come for their baptismal interview except 2 and then 1 of them came. So we have 4 baptisms planned for this Saturday. The one that did not come is a sister to the one that came late. She had to stay and help at the shop with her mother so that was pretty sad, but we will still baptize her--just later. Oh I forgot, one other person did not come but she told us before, that she was going to a funeral so she would be gone, so we will be doing her interview on Tuesday. So that one will be done too.
This week I have decided to eat crepes--so that is what I bought--stuff to make for this whole week. It will be really good but I don’t know what exactly to eat them with, but that is okay, I will find something--maybe just cream cheese and ice cream just like whipped cream.
Well, if anything bad happens I want you to somehow tell Grandpa Reid that I love him. I really do love them so much! I really wish I knew more about Grandpa and Grandma--I have really no idea about most of their life. I will also be praying for him. I did know about all the problems he has been having breathing and his lungs and stuff. He has had lots of different problems and it’s not easy for your body. I have a letter for them on my bed but I wanted to write another one so I can put them together to send off. So I will get on that before Friday--that will be the next time that I can send some. I’m not worried too much, sad but not worried. From being out here I have studied lots. I don’t still know too much--but I know that there is life after death and that is why for us in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints it’s not as sad, because we know that they are in a better place, but let’s just hope that does not happen.
This week was pretty funny; we met a guy from America--Colorado or so. He was speaking pretty funny. I don’t think that it is really how we speak back home but whatever. He told us that he started his church in America, but not Colorado. He was pretty weird and kept saying “Well, it’s good what you guys do, but man you have some beliefs that are different that I don’t believe in.” We were like you don’t believe in Jesus Christ and then he said well you try to put that on everything but we both know what’s really there. It was really funny we both laughed.
We found some cool people in that area too, so we are excited to go over there, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. I have gotten two packages--one from Shel and Matt and one from Josh and Jenny. I have not opened either of them; I will wait till my birthday! I opened the one Mom & Dad sent but I am not looking inside again---I think more things will disappear if I do!!!!!
I just saw the pictures of the day that I was set apart--I can hardly remember that day. Anyway, before I go I am going to look through them. Well, love you all tons and tons! I miss you, especially after seeing pictures of everyone.
Love, Elder Jeremy Reid
