1st Letter from the Mission Field

My Trainer--Elder Menyah

This little girl chose me, the tall "obruni" (white man) to baptise her--then the entire group wanted me to do their baptisms!

Dear Family,

Well, it sound like you guys are all really busy working and not playing too much! We are too! We have like no food---it's pretty funny actually, so I am just going to start eating rice everyday! I LOVE rice so much---(not)---but, I will start to love it!!! Shelby and Matt's house sounds like a castle! Most houses here don't even have real doors---and none of them hardly ever get finished! The owner usually runs out of money, but they still live in them and they keep working on them! It's really great! Hey, I've been sick--not too fun--but, you got to do what you got to do! My companion is pretty cool. Oh ya, we eat this stuff you all would love! Matt especially! It's called Fu-Fu, Abi, or Banko and it's like fishy, fish soup with beef in it or fish heads and some cow skin! Then there is this stuff that's like play dough! It's spicy hot as ever and gives you a headache! It's pretty dang good...... Wink, wink! Well, love you all tons and miss you even more!

Love,
Elder Jeremy Reid

African Food Staples: Banku and Fu-Fu! I love them!
